Trump Warns of “Day of Retribution” for Minnesota

Must read

Donald Trump has issued a troubling warning about an upcoming “day of retribution” in Minnesota. Despite widespread condemnation of ICE’s methods and activities in the state, the US President has reaffirmed his decision to deploy more agents to Minnesota, specifically targeting Somali Americans, the majority of whom are American citizens.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump questioned whether the people of Minnesota want to reside in a community with convicted criminals, drug dealers, rapists, and other dangerous individuals. He defended ICE’s actions, claiming that their goal is to remove these individuals from neighborhoods and return them to their places of origin.

Contrary to Trump’s claims, ICE has been focusing on the Somali American community in Minnesota, where approximately 95% are US citizens through either naturalization or birth. Of the Somali heritage population in Minnesota, around 62% have resided in the country for over a decade out of roughly 34,100 individuals.

While there are approximately 5,800 non-citizens of Somali descent in Minnesota, the majority entered the country legally with visas or green cards. It is estimated that less than 1,000 illegal Somali migrants are present in the state.

Despite reports of around 3,000 ICE agents being dispatched to Minnesota by the Trump administration, the ratio works out to about three agents per potential deportee. Trump claimed that crime rates decrease wherever they operate, citing an improvement in Chicago due to the removal of criminals.

In a final message to the people of Minnesota, Trump ominously stated, “FEAR NOT, GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!”
