Virgin Media has emerged as the top choice for households seeking superior broadband services in terms of speed, reliability, and overall quality, according to the latest assessment by Opensignal. The UK-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) dominated in all categories, including Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Consistent Quality.
Andrey Popov, Principal Analyst, highlighted Virgin Media’s exceptional performance, attributing it to the ISP’s advanced cable-to-fibre network, which outshines competitors operating on the Openreach wholesale platform. Virgin excelled in both Download Speed, recording 187.8Mbps, and Reliability Experience, earning 747 points.
Following closely behind Virgin Media was Vodafone, securing high rankings across the board. Vodafone’s strength lies in its dual-network approach, leveraging both the Openreach and CityFibre networks, a strategy uncommon in the broadband industry.
Other notable ISPs include BT, ranking third in Consistent Quality and Download Speed, and Sky, recognized for its outstanding Video Experience, clinching the second spot in that category.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Three ranked lowest overall, scoring poorly in Consistent Quality, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience. TalkTalk also lagged in download speeds, averaging 55.1Mbps compared to Virgin Media’s impressive 180Mbps+ speeds.
