Walkers issues apology as crisp fans ‘travel across country’ for one flavour

Must read

Crisp giant Walkers have issued an apology to fans following the devastation of a returning favourite flavour not being available nationwide.

Walkers’ iconic Worcester Sauce crisps, which launched in the 1990s, are officially returning to shelves this month. It comes after snack fans rushed to social media to call for its comeback.

One person on X said: “What the hell @walkers_crisps Worcester Sauce was the best flavour crisps that you did! You need to bring them back asap!” Another added: “@walkers_crisps right enough is enough…Worcester sauce….bring them back PLEASE.”

Another said: “What has happened to Walkers Worcester Sauce Crisps? “I can’t find them anywhere. I’m furious. Seriously what has happened?”

Walkers listened and decided to bring Worcester Sauce back. However, when fans learnt that they could only get the returning crisp flavour in Worcestershire, they were not happy and demanded they be released nationwide, with some even travelling the length and breadth of the country to sample the beloved snack.

On TikTok @tripleeatsfood said: “Nationwide release needed right now!”. Plus, @krissie.p74 added: “Bring them back everywhere. Best crisps ever.”

“I used to ADORE these I can’t believe they were ever discontinued,” @mazz.aa_ added. “I’ve been craving these,” said another.

Walkers have now issued an apology for the limited availability of the crisps and has decided to make the Worcester Sauce flavour crisps available to purchase across the whole of the UK. Stock will land on shelves in all retailers from next week onwards.

Later this month fans will be able to get their hands on the flavour around the country. “We’re sorry for the distress caused,” a spokesperson for Walkers said.

Walkers added: “So, we’ve decided that your favourite Walkers Worcester Sauce flavour crisps will land on shelves at retailers all over the UK from Monday 17th March onwards.

“We’re working hard to make them available for everyone to enjoy the beloved flavour – which is now even more Worcestershire-y with Lea & Perrins’ iconic sauce.”

The flavour is inspired by Worcestershire sauce, a fermented condiment first created by Lea & Perrins in the 19th century.

Walkers developed the crisps to mimic the sauce’s tangy, umami-rich taste, which combines ingredients like vinegar, molasses, anchovies, tamarind, and various spices. The Worcester Sauce flavour was briefly discontinued at certain points and was last axed two years ago.
