Walt Disney World is facing a lawsuit following allegations against a former employee for secretly recording over 500 upskirting videos over a span of six years.
The lawsuit claims that the renowned resort giant failed to appropriately address the actions of the ex-employee, Jorge Diazvega. The legal documents cite an incident in March 2023, which led to Diazvega’s arrest in April of the same year on charges of video voyeurism. This arrest came after Orange County deputies investigated accusations that he had taken up-skirt videos of women at the Star Wars-themed store where he was employed.
According to the arrest affidavit, Diazvega admitted to deputies that he had recorded over 500 videos of women over six years. Subsequently, in June 2023, he was arrested again on video voyeurism charges for recording under the dresses of two women at a Publix store in Osceola County.
The lawsuit further alleges that on March 30, a 14-year-old girl was recorded by Diazvega at the Star Wars-themed store. The girl realized what was happening, became distressed, and fled to a nearby bathroom.
Additionally, the lawsuit claims that prior to the March 30 incident, Diazvega was accused of recording a female coworker, which had been reported to a supervisor. Allegedly, Disney failed to take appropriate action to prevent the incident. It is claimed that Disney did not thoroughly investigate previous complaints, which, if done, would have revealed Diazvega’s history of unauthorized recordings and the potential threat he posed to guests and employees.
The victim’s family is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 in the lawsuit.
