Must read

A tragic incident unfolded as a young girl passed away after being discovered unresponsive in a bathtub, according to information presented during an inquest.

Emergency services were urgently summoned to the residence upon the distressing discovery of Cali Marged Lewis-Mclernon, aged four, last month. Despite efforts by paramedics and police, she was rushed to Glangwili Hospital where she succumbed in the early hours of the subsequent day.

The inquiry into her demise was initiated by Paul Bennett, the senior coroner for Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, at Llanelli Town Hall earlier today. Hayley Rogers, Coroner’s Officer for Dyfed-Powys Police, revealed that the authorities were alerted by the Welsh Ambulance Service at 5.59pm on February 20.

The call reported a four-year-old girl in cardiac arrest, found unresponsive in a bath at an address in the Llangunnor region of Carmarthen, Wales. Subsequently, Cali was pronounced dead at Glangwili Hospital at 2.45am the following day.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at the hospital a week later, with results pending confirmation.

Law enforcement has commenced an investigation, with a 41-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. The individual has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Offering condolences to Cali’s family, Mr. Bennett adjourned the inquest until June 30, with police investigations ongoing.

In response to the tragic event, a spokesperson for Dyed-Powys Police stated that they were called to assist the ambulance service at a residence in Llangunnor, Carmarthen, on February 20. The child was transported to the hospital but tragically passed away shortly after arrival. Enquiries continue, with one person under arrest.
