Elon Musk expressed confidence in the possibility of humans discovering how to prolong life but cautioned against the desire for immortality. The billionaire entrepreneur shared his thoughts during a conversation with Laurence Fink, BlackRock’s CEO and interim co-chair of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Musk indicated that he views aging as a solvable issue, emphasizing the need to identify its underlying causes, which he believes will be straightforward rather than complex.
According to Musk, the uniform aging of all cells in the body suggests a common biological clock regulating the aging process across billions of cells. However, he pointed out potential societal challenges associated with significantly extended lifespans, highlighting the risk of social stagnation and a lack of dynamism if individuals were to live indefinitely.
In a lighthearted moment, Musk made a playful remark about Donald Trump’s newly launched Board of Peace, suggesting a humorous play on words. Trump’s initiative aims to oversee the ceasefire in Israel’s conflict with Hamas, with the president envisioning it as a significant global entity despite some skepticism and reluctance from traditional US allies to participate.
Despite his past support for Trump, Musk distanced himself from the administration after heading the Department of Government Efficiency, a role criticized for falling short of its objectives. The tech mogul’s public fallout with the president followed his departure from the government position.
