Children at Platt Bridge Community School in Wigan, Greater Manchester, were temporarily kept indoors today due to reports of a man with a firearm nearby. The school received a call from the police around 11:55 am following emergency service reports of the incident. Thankfully, it was later confirmed to be a false alarm with no threat to the wider community. The situation was resolved over an hour later at approximately 1 pm.
In a message to parents and carers, Mr. Stephen Wallace, the school’s headteacher, assured that there was no direct danger to the school, students, or staff.
