Five boys have been taken into custody by Gardai in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl in Dublin. Reports suggest that six boys were involved in the incident, with one of them purportedly recording part of the assault on a mobile phone. The boys are accused of providing the victim with alcohol before committing the assault. The victim disclosed the incident to a family member, who then alerted the authorities.
The boys were initially detained on suspicion of sexual assault but were later released without charge. A report is set to be compiled for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A spokesperson for the Garda informed the Irish Mirror that the investigation into the alleged assault is ongoing. The arrests were made on January 20, 2026, and all individuals detained were questioned regarding the incident before being released pending further investigation by the DPP.
Although the age group of the suspects and the victim was not confirmed by the authorities, it has been verified by the Irish Mirror that all parties involved are minors.
