Trainer and Jockey Brothers Claim Victory at Punchestown

Must read

A trainer overseeing just a duo of horses celebrated a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The competition featured entries from prominent stables in Ireland, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Against tough competition, Connor King, the handler, led Oscars Brother to victory with his brother Daniel in the saddle, maneuvering the seven-year-old expertly around the challenging County Kildare track. Always positioned at the front, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impeccable jumping skills and finished three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s stable.

The winning horse had prepared for the three-mile race on soft to heavy ground by competing in a novice chase at Galway. With only one other horse currently in training at their yard, the brothers are optimistic about potentially having a Grade One contender on their hands.

Daniel expressed his joy at riding a successful horse trained by his brother, praising Oscars Brother’s quality and their teamwork. Looking ahead, they believe the horse has room for improvement and a shot at higher-level races.

Connor, a former jockey himself, hinted at the possibility of competing in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the festive Christmas season, highlighting Oscars Brother’s successful transition from hurdles to chasing. Reflecting on their progress, Connor noted the significance of aiming for prestigious races like the Faugheen Novices’ Chase.
