Beauty brand Malin + Goetz enters administration, closing UK stores

Must read

Beauty brand Malin + Goetz has gone into administration, leading to the closure of its seven stores across the UK. The affected locations include Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards in London. Over 70 jobs will be impacted by this decision.

Online orders from Malin + Goetz are currently on hold, with a message on their website indicating a temporary pause in order acceptance. However, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.

In a statement to TheIndustry.beauty, a spokesperson for Malin+Goetz explained that after thoroughly reviewing the business and exploring all options, the company had to make the tough choice to place its UK operations into administration. This resulted in the closure of UK stores and the head office, acknowledging the unfortunate job losses that came as a consequence.

While the website is expected to resume operations following a brief maintenance period, the exact duration remains uncertain. Malin + Goetz, founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, initially started with a small range of six products catering to all skin types. Over time, the brand expanded its offerings to include fragrance, body care, and other beauty products.
