“Expectant Parents Reveal Surname-Influenced Baby Name Choices”

Must read

When considering a name for your baby, it’s essential to take your surname into account. While for most parents, the surname may not heavily influence the choice of the baby’s name, it’s still crucial to ensure that the two names complement each other.

However, for certain parents, the surname can be a deciding factor. This was the case for a couple on Instagram, Quincie and Zach Cox, who are expecting their second child. They recently discussed names they have contemplated for their upcoming arrival.

Although they haven’t revealed the chosen name yet, they shared a list of names they have ruled out due to how they sound when paired with their surname.

Quincie and Zach, who are expecting a baby girl and already have a daughter named Capri, disclosed that names like Eden, Holden, or Harry would not be used for their baby as they could lead to unfavorable associations when combined with the surname Cox.

Additionally, they decided against using names like Anita, Ryder, Isla, Sharon, and Sawyer, as they could create inappropriate connotations when linked to their surname.

To avoid subjecting their child to potential ridicule, the couple eliminated these names and shared another list of names they had to dismiss.

In a subsequent video, they mentioned names such as Olive, Sandy, Iva, Dixon, Ophelia, Ivana, and Robin. Quincie also noted that including her maiden name, Pullen, before marrying Zach would have made the situation even more challenging.

Commenters found the list of names amusing, but many empathized with the couple’s need to be cautious in selecting their baby’s name. Some shared their own experiences of being burdened with an unfortunate name due to their parents’ oversight.

One individual named Harry Wang expressed his wish for his parents to have been as considerate. Another mother shared her experience of being cautious when naming her daughters due to her marriage into the last name Head.

A third individual, formerly a Cox by maiden name, emphasized the importance of being aware when naming children. Meanwhile, a fourth person recounted a local family with daughters named Precious, Pleasure, and Desire, sharing the consequences of inattentive naming.
