Two high-end perfumes have been withdrawn from the market due to containing a hazardous chemical that poses a risk to consumers. The implicated fragrances, Hello by Lionel Richie and Hot by United Colours of Benetton, were distributed by Savers Health and Beauty. The Office for Product Safety Standards has issued a cautionary notice as both products were found to contain butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA), a banned ingredient in cosmetic items.
The recall specifically targets these two perfumes sold at Savers Health and Beauty stores. BMHCA, labeled on the packaging of Hello and Hot fragrances, has raised concerns due to its potential harm to the reproductive system, unborn children, and skin sensitization. These non-compliant products fail to meet the standards set by Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, as reported by the Express.
Although an initial warning was issued last month, the products have now been officially recalled. Customers who purchased these items are advised to return them to Savers Health and Beauty for a full refund. The OPSS emphasizes that only perfumes purchased at Savers Health and Beauty outlets with specific barcodes are affected by this recall.
