Calls for the fight’s cancellation have emerged due to the accusations against Davis. Reports indicated that Paul may consider Ryan Garcia as a replacement, but Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s company, clarified that no decision has been made yet. The statement from the company confirmed their immediate investigation into the civil lawsuit filed against Davis, emphasizing the commitment to thorough review and respect for all involved before any conclusion is reached.
Davis has not responded to the accusations, with his trainer dismissing them as baseless. The lawsuit alleges that Davis assaulted his ex-partner at her workplace and had previously made threats against her. The ex-partner also claims multiple instances of physical assault and choking, seeking damages and a jury trial.
Regarding a potential fight with Paul, Garcia has been ruled out due to contractual obligations with different platforms. Paul may delay his return to the ring until December and has been linked with heavyweight Anthony Joshua, although securing a deal on short notice seems unlikely.
