Both claimed ignorance of the law, with Loucaides citing ADHD as a defense and Nuchjaree stating she was a student from Singapore studying in Thailand.
The offenders were transferred to the investigating officer for further legal procedures and released upon payment of a fine. A taxi driver, Somsak Pativat, recounted being shocked upon witnessing the incident on the beach, mistaking it for a medical emergency initially. In a separate incident, a British yoga teacher, Maria Shchetinina, was arrested for allegedly conducting tantric sex classes behind a restaurant. Authorities raided the class and charged her for unauthorized work activity. Shchetinina defended herself by stating her lawyer approved the classes.
