Meghan Markle Faces Challenges Amid Declining Popularity

Must read

Meghan Markle has faced a challenging week, with Prince Harry away in the UK, leaving her to deal with two significant setbacks that have raised questions about her future plans. Recent findings from a YouGov poll indicated a decline in Meghan’s popularity in Britain, with only 19% of respondents expressing a positive view of the Duchess of Sussex – the lowest rating recorded for her. Additionally, reports from People have stated that there are currently no plans for a third season of her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan.

Critics have pointed out the diminishing appeal of the Sussexes to the public, prompting speculation about Meghan’s strategic efforts to regain favor. In a recent Instagram post, Meghan embraced the 2016 nostalgia trend by sharing a black-and-white video of herself dancing with Harry and a throwback-style photo taken in Botswana, a place with sentimental value to their relationship.

Some believe that Meghan may join Harry in the UK this summer, assuming his security concerns are resolved, potentially coinciding with an Invictus Games event. While some anticipate her return could boost her brand, others argue that her commercial strength lies primarily in the US market. Daily Mail columnist Sarah Vine suggested a UK return could enhance Meghan’s royal status and commercial appeal, emphasizing the need for her to reinforce her connections with the British public.

Contrary to this view, PR expert Mayah Riaz cautioned that returning to the UK could pose risks for Meghan’s brand, as the media landscape there is less forgiving and could rekindle negative narratives. Riaz emphasized that Meghan’s strong commercial presence in the US may not necessarily benefit from a UK visit and could potentially create more challenges than advantages.
