Russian Officials Issue Nuclear Threats Against Britain as Talks with US Continue

Must read

During discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and representatives of US President Donald Trump, Russian officials issued nuclear threat warnings against Britain. The high-level talks, lasting nearly four hours, involved Putin and Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, concluding with the Kremlin’s insistence on Ukraine not ending the war unless Kyiv agreed to surrender the Donbas region. Simultaneously, Russia’s actions prompted NATO to deploy warplanes to escort Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bombers over the Baltic Sea.

State-funded Russian TV broadcast explicit threats of a nuclear attack against Britain, claiming that the country would cease to exist. Putin’s advisor, Sergei Karaganov, known as Professor Doomsday, remarked on the capability of Russia to deliver a devastating strike against Britain, emphasizing the need for the British to acknowledge this potential threat.

These statements were perceived as a mockery of peace efforts in Ukraine, particularly undermining President Volodymyr Zelensky’s efforts to maintain the country’s sovereignty. Additionally, Russian TV propagandist Vladimir Solovyov advocated for the use of the untested Poseidon weapon, an underwater nuclear drone, to target Britain, suggesting that the UK poses a more significant threat to Russia compared to other European nations.

Amid these tensions, Russian Tu-22M3 bombers conducted patrols over the Baltic Sea, accompanied by fighter jets, as part of a strategic display. The actions coincided with Trump’s envoys’ visit to Moscow, where discussions with Putin’s team did not indicate an immediate resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. The Kremlin reiterated its commitment to achieving its military objectives in Ukraine until a political and diplomatic solution is reached.

Moscow referenced undisclosed territorial agreements supposedly reached during a previous meeting between Putin and Trump, hinting at potential territorial concessions by Ukraine in the Donbas region. This ongoing situation underscores the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the region.
