Far-right Neo-Nazis Threaten Abduction of Australian PM

Must read

A group of far-right neo-Nazis reportedly made threats to abduct Australia’s Prime Minister following the Bondi Beach terror incident, as revealed in disturbing chat messages. Two police operations were initiated upon the disclosure of alleged schemes to abduct Anthony Albanese and place explosives in mosques. A leaked chat transcript from an online chatroom indicated an offer of £5000 ($10,000 AUD) to rent a van and seize Albanese to facilitate the establishment of a new “nationalist” government. The chat group, predominantly comprising far-right members, was formed by the organizers of a white nationalist rally opposing what they perceived as a surge in immigration to Australia, dubbed March for Australia.

Messages leaked from the Discord group unveiled discussions where a user identified as “cav” proposed the sinister plan to the group. “cav” expressed a belief that forcibly interrogating Albanese was the optimal approach, stating, “I genuinely believe the best option is to is literally to f***ing grab him [Albanese] and put him in a room and force him to answer like every possible f***ing question.” When asked about the feasibility of the plan, “cav” indicated willingness to proceed, suggesting collaboration in carrying out the abduction.

In another alarming exchange, “cav” hinted at embracing terrorism, emphasizing, “I’ve crossed into the f***ing realm of terrorism, bro.… The only way I would take power is through force.” Subsequently, another user named “xertz” in the same chatroom attracted police attention after discussing the production and dispatch of explosive devices to mosques.

Hugo Lennon, the organizer of March for Australia, disclaimed knowledge of specific threats against Albanese or mosques, affirming his disapproval of violence. Lennon asserted a limited and sporadic involvement in the chat server. Separately, plumber Nathan Ballesty, 27, was apprehended by police following a distinct inquiry into a social media post hinting at the abduction of the Prime Minister. Notably, Ballesty has been documented in photographs alongside neo-Nazis at gatherings and is affiliated with the National Socialist Network, a neo-Nazi organization.

Addressing the escalating threat, Albanese acknowledged an upsurge in security concerns, asserting his primary focus on safeguarding all Australians. He expressed confidence in the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and authorities to address the situation effectively, underscoring his unwavering commitment to engaging with the public without succumbing to intimidation.
