The Montreal Roses made a significant decision to relieve their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu, from his duties following their exit from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, conveyed the news through a press release on Thursday, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his foundational role in establishing the professional women’s soccer team.
Acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with a coach, Pichon emphasized the necessity of a fresh perspective to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and future growth. Currently positioned at second place in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 regular-season matches remaining.
Rositoiu assumed the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
