A village in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region was struck by a Russian missile attack on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals, according to Ukrainian officials. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, which targeted a bustling intersection in Pechenihy, a location surrounded by residential buildings, a post office, and stores. Zelenskyy shared images of the destruction caused by the attack, including a demolished building, burning cars, and emergency responders helping injured individuals.
The governor of the region, Oleh Syniehubov, mentioned that 17 people were wounded in the assault. Reports indicate that the strike damaged 10 private buildings, a cafe, a post office, a store, and several vehicles. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office stated that Russia used two small Banderol cruise missiles in the attack.
In response, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive targeting Moscow and its neighboring areas, deploying 620 drones in one of Kyiv’s largest air assaults. Russian forces managed to intercept 180 drones over the Moscow region, with Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reporting no detailed information on casualties or damage. The drones struck various locations, including a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries near Moscow.
Additionally, Ukraine conducted drone attacks on Russian-controlled regions, such as Crimea, causing power supply disruptions in several areas. Russia issued a warning to Britain regarding its alleged supply of drones to Ukraine for attacks on Russian territory, threatening consequences for such actions.
Despite the Russian embassy’s comments, Britain reaffirmed its support for Ukraine, stating its commitment to providing necessary equipment for Ukraine’s defense. The UK had previously announced plans to deliver 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
