A major crackdown has recently occurred to combat unauthorized viewership, resulting in the permanent closure of a prominent streaming platform. Working in conjunction with Egyptian authorities, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a leading antipiracy coalition, announced the successful dismantling of a notorious piracy network.
The platform known as Streameast had been facilitating access to various events such as the Premier League, accumulating over 1.6 billion visits in the past year alone. In addition to premier football matches, F1 races, MMA, and Moto GP coverage, Streameast also enabled users to explore sport-specific piracy sites featuring American leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB.
Charles Rivkin, Chairman of ACE and CEO of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), expressed satisfaction with the operation’s outcome, emphasizing the importance of combating digital piracy to safeguard the interests of sports leagues, entertainment companies, and fans worldwide. The platform’s traffic was predominantly driven by users from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and Germany, all of whom will now face content restrictions.
