“Polish Mother Murdered, Buried in Garden by Partner: Court”

Must read

A court revealed that a Polish mother, missing for nearly 15 years, was found buried in a garden, having been murdered, dismembered, and placed in bin bags by her partner. Anna Podedworna, 40, allegedly tried to cover up the killing of Izabela Zablocka through a series of intentional and gruesome acts following the incident in 2010. The court described their relationship as tumultuous. Podedworna faces charges of murder, preventing a lawful burial, and perverting the course of justice.

During the court proceedings at Derby Crown Court, Podedworna, dressed in a grey sweatshirt and black glasses, required a Polish interpreter. Prosecutor Gordon Aspden KC presented the case, stating that Zablocka, aged 30 at the time of her death, hailed from Trzebiatow in Poland. She had a daughter named Katarzyna from a previous marriage before starting a romantic relationship with Podedworna.

The two women lived together in Poland before moving to the UK in 2009 for work, settling in Derby. Both were employed at Cranberry Foods. Zablocka’s family lost contact with her after a phone call in August 2010, prompting concerns. Aspden alleged that soon after this call, Podedworna murdered Zablocka, dismembered her, and buried her in the garden under a section of concrete.

Despite initially denying knowledge of Zablocka’s whereabouts when questioned by authorities, Podedworna eventually confessed to the murder after mounting pressure, claiming self-defense during a violent altercation. However, the prosecution argued that this was a fabricated story to conceal the crime.

Zablocka’s remains were discovered in the garden of their former residence in Normanton. Podedworna pleads not guilty to all charges. The trial is ongoing.
