Ryan Garcia has expressed skepticism regarding the upcoming heavyweight bout between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua. The anticipated fight is scheduled for December 19 in Miami, featuring eight three-minute rounds with both fighters using 10oz gloves. Paul, who last fought and won against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June, had to cancel a previous match with Gervonta Davis due to legal issues faced by his opponent.
On the other hand, Joshua has been inactive since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. Despite planning a ring comeback, he accepted the challenge from Paul. The two fighters recently met at a press conference in Miami, where Garcia, observing the significant physical difference between them, cast doubts on the fight’s occurrence.
The showdown between Joshua and Paul is set to stream live on Netflix on December 19. Following Garcia’s comments, Paul retaliated by questioning Garcia’s recent fights and credentials. Additionally, after Paul’s bout with Davis was called off, he called out several boxing stars, including Garcia, for a potential match.
MVP chief Nakisa Bidarian revealed that DAZN, the streaming service, declined to allow Garcia to switch platforms due to contractual obligations with Matchroom. Bidarian speculated that DAZN may have favored Joshua over Paul in terms of potential outcomes, leading to their decisions regarding the fighters’ streaming rights.
The highly anticipated clash between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul is scheduled to take place in Miami on December 19, just days before Christmas. The fight is expected to commence around 11 pm local time, approximately 4 am in the UK, catering to the American audience. The event will be broadcast live on Netflix.
