SeatGeek Canada has been slapped with two fresh fines by the Ontario government over alleged violations of a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the newly imposed fines on the ticket resale platform amount to a combined total of $22,500. The first fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale above the resale price limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly failing to disclose the full ticket price when a ticket was purchased from an initial seller. Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has promptly addressed inquiries regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. Earlier in August, the province had fined the company $25,000 for similar breaches.
