“UK PM Starmer Mediates Diplomatic Talks on Greenland Annexation”

Must read

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer engaged in discussions with US President Donald Trump regarding concerns over potential annexation of Greenland. Starmer acted as a mediator, advocating for diplomatic approaches instead of forcible acquisition of the Danish territory.

Following initial talks with Trump, Starmer communicated with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, reiterating his stance on Greenland and emphasizing the importance of NATO’s enhanced presence to counter Russian threats in the region.

Subsequently, Starmer conversed with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte along similar lines before reconnecting with Trump later in the day. Discussions revolved around enhancing Euro-Atlantic security to deter Russian aggression in the High North.

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy was slated to meet with US Vice President JD Vance, with discussions likely encompassing Greenland and Venezuela. Lammy’s visit to the US coincided with an event commemorating America’s 250th Independence Anniversary.

French President Emmanuel Macron cautioned against Trump’s deviation from international norms, while UK officials maintained the US as a dependable ally despite perceived shifts in policy.

Downing Street reiterated Starmer’s stance on Greenland, emphasizing the sovereignty of Greenland and Denmark in determining its future.
