The Vancouver Rise have strengthened their squad with the addition of two defenders this week in preparation for a crucial match against the Halifax Tides. Chantelle Swaby, previously with Leicester City in the Women’s Super League, and Kaela Hansen, formerly with NSL side AFC Toronto, have joined the Rise to enhance the team’s defensive capabilities as they strive to secure a playoff spot.
Head coach Anja Heiner-Moller expressed confidence in the new signings, highlighting Swaby’s physicality and confidence on the field and Hansen’s adaptability to the team’s style of play and eagerness to contribute as a center-back. Additionally, Vancouver bid farewell to goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan, loaning her to the Halifax Tides for the remainder of the season. With the Rise currently trailing Halifax by five points in the standings, the team is focused on securing a playoff berth as they enter a crucial phase of the season.
