Seventy percent of Brits consider a thrilling TV series to provide the most exhilarating experience in their lives. Popular programs like “The Traitors,” “Stranger Things,” and “Happy Valley” are among the top choices for an intense evening in front of the screen.
In addition to these, Brits also enjoy the tension in classic soap opera scenes, such as Den serving Angie divorce papers on Christmas Day in 1986 on “EastEnders,” and the memorable “Who shot Phil?” storyline from 2001, along with the dramatic tram crash from “Corrie.”
The iconic series “Game of Thrones” also ranks in the top 20 heart-stopping TV shows, particularly the Red Wedding massacre episode where Rob Stark faces betrayal by Walder Frey.

Notably, 71% of the 2,000 surveyed Brits acknowledge that “The Traitors” leaves them more shaken than scripted dramas, and 63% find it challenging to unwind after watching the show.
