Must read

Following a rescue operation from River Soar in Leicester, a man has tragically passed away in the hospital later in the evening.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene outside a secondary school where the man was retrieved from the river. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, the individual succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased a few hours afterward. Law enforcement officials and forensics personnel were observed at the location.

Investigators were seen collecting wet clothing and various items that were later removed from the vicinity by authorities. The cordoned-off area at Richard III Road, near Castle Mead Academy, was eventually reopened. Subsequently, the police confirmed the unfortunate death of the man rescued from the water earlier that day.

A statement provided by the authorities to LeicestershireLive indicated, “Emergency services were summoned to Richard III Road in Leicester shortly after 5:35 pm today (Monday, 20 January) following the retrieval of a man by the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service from the River Soar.”

“The man was transferred to a medical facility where he was sadly pronounced dead. The incident is not deemed suspicious, and necessary procedures are underway for the Coroner’s office. Formal identification will be handled by the coroner.”

Law enforcement officers maintained a presence at the scene, managing a cordon to secure the area as investigations took place. Various items, including apparent wet clothes and a potential paramedic blanket, were within the cordon boundaries.
